Looking for techniques to manage stress? Discover the most relaxing facial exercises to melt away tension and leave you feeling calm, serene, and in control. Get ready to feel zen!
With everything going on in the world today, it’s natural to feel a little stressed from time to time.
Ok, a *lot* of stress.
However, the negative stories on the news or challenges of everyday life aren’t just an inconvenience. They’re contributing to unwanted wrinkles, skin creases, and fine lines. Daily frowning and worry cause the muscles of your face to contract, leading to wrinkles through over-movement (known as dynamic wrinkles). Even worse, stress leads to high amounts of cortisol – the stress hormone that breaks down collagen and elastin and leaves your skin susceptible to wrinkles.
So if you’ve been looking for ways to relieve stress and banish wrinkles at the same time, check out the best stress-busting facial exercises you need to know.
#1 – How to Reduce Stress in Your Temple
OK, this first way to manage stress isn’t really focused on improving your skin, but it will improve your mood and reduce tension headaches, and when you’re feeling 100% you’ll be able to fully focus on the following Face Yoga exercises.
To start, massage your temples using your index and middle finger to create gentle circular motions on your temples (just above your eyebrows). This movement can help reduce any tension you’re holding (a common side effect of stress) and help get you in the right headspace for the following stress reduction facial exercises.
#2 – How to Reduce Stress Around Your Eyes
Do you find yourself carrying stress and tension around your eyes? Whether it’s a lack of sleep or twitching, nervous eyelids, your eyes are a window into your stress levels. You can help reduce this stress with this quick and easy facial exercise.
Start by placing your fingers under each eye, facing inwards towards your nose. Next, slightly open your mouth and curve your lips inwards to cover your teeth. While holding this tension, gently tilt your head backward and flutter your eyelids for 30 seconds.
Face Yoga Tip: Try adding a lightweight serum or eye cream prior to your facial massage for the benefits of Face Yoga with the benefits of your favorite skincare routine too.

#3 – How to Reduce Stress On Your Forehead
Do you find yourself rubbing your forehead in times of stress? Then this easy way to relieve stress is ideal for you.
Begin by placing both hands on your forehead with your fingers pointing inwards. Spread the tips of your fingers out and down from your hairline to your eyebrows. You’ll want to repeat this movement 10 times, gently massaging your forehead for a soothing, stress-releasing feeling that also helps reduce frustrating forehead lines.

#4 – How to Reduce Stress Around Your Mouth
The facial movements that come with stress can lead to deep, dynamic stress lines that last long after your stressful feelings have passed. This is why you need to reduce stress lines in their early stages.
If you’re dealing with excess smile lines (which are nothing to smile about), try the following stress-reducing facial exercise. First, form an ‘O’ shape with your mouth then firmly press the tip of your tongue to the right side of your mouth. You should feel the tension in maintaining this pose. Hold this feeling of tension for 10 to 15 seconds, before repeating this facial exercise on the left side of your mouth.
Doing this stress-relief exercise for one to two minutes will help you wipe away unwanted smile lines while feeling a sense of serene calmness to get you through the day.
