A higher, firmer face is an appealing vision to thousands of women, a painful surgical procedure? Not so much.
Thankfully, knife-free and needle-free facelifts have become common by naturally stimulating collagen production (the protein primarily responsible for skin firmness) and improving muscle tone for a 100% natural lift. Read on to find out how you can lift your face without surgery.
What image does the word ‘facelift’ stir up in your mind? If you’re like most women you probably think of Botox, painful cosmetic injections, or going under the knife to try and lift sagging skin and deflated facial features. And if you’re like most women the thought of all that pain and discomfort is unappealing, so wouldn’t it be amazing to get the results of a face-lift using 100% natural methods? Well, we’ve got GREAT news…there is a natural face-lift secret and it only takes 20 to 30 minutes a day to start seeing the results. It’s called Face Yoga and if you haven’t heard of this exciting wellness revolution, prepare to disappoint your local plastic surgeon, because you won’t need to go under the knife to look years younger.
Why Do Our Faces Sag with Age?
We’d all love to look 21 forever, but that’s not the reality of aging. It’s important to understand the physiological factors leading to sagging facial features, as this gives you the foundation to target problem areas of your face and lift your appearance naturally. If you’re wondering why your face in your 20’s and 30’s looked so full and firm, it comes down to the even distribution of fat in your face (yes, you actually *want* fat when it helps to lift your facial features). The older you get, the more that fat loses volume and is less evenly distributed. This causes features that were once rounded due to even fat distribution to lose shape, while the outer layer of skin that was taut becomes loose and wrinkled. To make matters more challenging, your face changes with each birthday candle you blow out. For example, your forehead expands as your hairline retreats, the cartilage in your ears grows, and connective tissue supporting nasal cartilage weakens. The end result? A changing face that may appear more tired or aged than you’d like. So, is there anything that can be done to stimulate a natural lift? The answer is YES. Face exercises to tighten and lift the face are easy to perform, as long as you know how to hit each pose with proper form, and we’ll share 3 of our favorites with you.
Face Lifting Yoga Exercise #1 – ‘Lifted Brows’
When you’re noticing a build-up of wrinkles and fine lines around your eyebrows, it can feel like an impossible task to smooth them out. After all, you use your eyebrows to express feelings and emotions every day. If you feel your brows have also begun to lose their shape and slipped down, practice the following face lifting yoga exercise:
- Place your index and middle fingers together
- Push your fingers against your eyebrows and gently push the skin down
- Raise your eyebrows up and down while holding gentle downward pressure with your fingers to create resistance
- Complete this movement 6 times
Repetitions: Repeat these facial exercises 10 times
Face Lifting Yoga Exercise #2 – ‘Lifted Cheekbones’
Move over Angelina Jolie, there’s a new stunner in town with sharp, high cheekbones (hint: it’s you) because it’s easy to lift cheeks naturally. With each passing year, the skin of your cheeks loses elastin and collagen, which makes it easier for gravity to bring your skin down as the surrounding muscle also loses tightness. While your muscles may have atrophied (and unfortunately yelling at the kids or your partner to put their laundry away doesn’t count), you can target these key muscle groups and stimulate movement, which leads to firmer, tighter muscles and naturally lifted cheekbones. Here’s how you can use Face Yoga to lift cheeks:
- Place your index and middle fingers together
- Push your fingers against your cheekbones and gently raise the skin until it is taut
- Open your mouth to create an ‘O’ shape
- Hold this pose for 15 seconds
Repetitions: Repeat these facial exercises 10 to 15 times
Face Lifting Yoga Exercise #3 – ‘Lifted Neck’
Are you frustrated by loose skin around your neck, or jowls leading to excess skin around your jawline? You could fork out $5,100 for a neck lift (this is the average price an American woman paid in 2020). Or, you could practice the following face jowls lifting exercise and help lift your neck and chin the natural way. If you’d prefer the pain-free and natural method, here’s how you can perform this neck lift exercise at home:
- Lift your chin towards the ceiling
- Push your lower jaw forward to create the feeling of tension
- Hold this feeling of tension for 5 seconds
Repetitions: Repeat this facial exercise 10 to 15 times
Although this neck lift exercise seems simple, it’s an example of Face Yoga’s unique targeting ability. With your neck extending up, the muscles in front relax while your side sternocleidomastoid muscles feel the burn, helping add firmness and lift your neck naturally.
