Got a spare 20 or 30 minutes in your morning routine? That’s all it takes to add Face Yoga to your day – and the scientific consensus is in. Not only does regular Face Yoga work towards reducing fine lines and wrinkles, but it can take up to 3 years from your visual appearance. Ready to turn back the clock?
Here are 6 morning Face Yoga poses that women swear by.
Urgh, it happened again.
Another week or month passed and you feel like you’ve aged 10 years. With the stress of the pandemic and the busyness of everyday life, it’s tough to keep up with your skincare and wellness routines.
And even when you do spend hundreds of dollars on serums and creams, there’s no promise of any change to your appearance (apart from a lighter wallet).
Deep down, you’d love to look a little younger or smooth out excess wrinkles, but you haven’t been able to take consistent action.
What’s going on here?
The truth is, you’re not making the most of your time. Using just 20 to 30 minutes each day – whether that’s part of your morning routine or standalone time to focus on yourself – you can reduce wrinkles with Face Yoga.
Morning Facial Exercises #1 – The ‘Surprise Me’
It’s 7am and you head into the bathroom. Before you get started on your morning routine, take a few minutes to look in the mirror and act surprised (because you will be when you see the results after a few weeks and months).
This fun facial exercise is ideal for mornings because it’s so easy.
Simply stand in front of the mirror and lift your forehead without moving any other facial features (like you are surprised). Hold this position and feel the tension in your frontalis muscle, then release after 5 seconds. Continue this movement for two to three minutes to stimulate blood flow and decrease forehead wrinkles.

Morning Facial Exercises #2 – The ‘Puffer Fish’
If you’ve ever seen Finding Nemo (who hasn’t?) then you’ll know what a puffer fish looks like, and by replicating their full cheeks you can help stimulate your cheek muscles and remove lines around your nose and mouth.
Start by taking a big, deep breath and filling your mouth with air (imagine you’re holding a mouthful of water). Swish this air from side to side, without opening your mouth or parting your lips. Continue this movement for 10 seconds, then release your mouthful of air.
Repeat this morning facial exercise 5 to 10 times for maximum results.

Morning Facial Exercises #3 – The ‘Downward Smile’
There’s probably plenty of things that make you smile each morning, from your partner or kids to your job or pets. Pick one of these and use your next smile as a chance to reduce your smile lines (also known as nasolabial folds).
This morning facial exercise is simple. All you need to do is smile, but gently apply downward pressure on the corners of your mouth (hence the name, ‘downward smile’). This resistance will help the muscles around your mouth get a nice morning workout and prevent droopy features.

Morning Facial Exercises #4 – The ‘Jawline Release’
You may not realize it, but you hold a lot of tension in your jaw (don’t worry, most people hold tension here without knowing it).
You can help release this tension first thing in the A.M with a quick, relaxing facial exercise that replicates an acupuncture-like motion to release stress. You will need both hands to help with this Face Yoga pose, so consider practicing this movement while out for a morning walk or in the shower.
Simply massage your jawline with your knuckles in an upward motion (being gentle to avoid any bumps or bruises). Then, repeat this movement on your forehead, starting in the middle and moving outwards to your temples.
5 minutes of gentle pressure is enough to relieve tension, stimulate blood flow and leave your skin glowing as you start your stress-free day.

Morning Facial Exercises #5 – The ‘Marilyn Monroe’
Channel your inner Marilyn Monroe with this morning Face Yoga pose by finding a comfortable spot to sit or stand, then puckering up your pout like you’re a Hollywood movie star in times gone by.
Then, finish this Face Yoga pose, by smiling as wide as you can (imagine you’re posing for a throng of paparazzi if it helps). The transition from puckered lips to a wide smile helps activate muscles around your mouth, helping to improve elastin and tone lines that appear when you smile.

Morning Facial Exercises #6 – The ‘Flying Crow’
This morning’s Face Yoga movement may sound like it resembles a flying crow when really it’s named for helping you make your unwanted crow’s feet fly away!
This is a more advanced Face Yoga pose (but we think you’re up to the task), so don’t worry if it takes a little time to master. The aim is to try and wink but *only* with your lower eyelid. The more you practice this move, the better you’ll be at isolating the lower lid.
Once you’re seeing success, you’ll want to lift then release your lower eyelid, while keeping other muscles inactive. Then, apply gentle pressure downwards with your fingers on your crow’s feet, while raising your lower eyelid.
Aim to repeat this facial exercise 5 to 10 times.
This Morning Facial Exercise Helps With: Reducing crow’s feet and eliminating eye wrinkles.
